Dr. Szabo is changing the way she manages prescription renewal requests. Effective immediately, faxed prescription renewal requests will not be automatically refilled. Dr. Szabo strongly believes it is important to be seen in person to review the effectiveness of your medication, evaluate the dose, and assess for side effects. During your visit, Dr. Szabo will provide you with enough medication, including refills, until she needs to see you again.
The staff is here to help you with this transition, but it is your responsibility to schedule an appointment prior to running out medication. Please find some suggestions to help in the prevention of running out of medication:
- Make a follow-up appointment before you leave the doctor’s office.
- If you did not book a follow up appointment, make sure you call and make an appointment 2-3 weeks prior to running out of your medication.
- Bring your current medications to each appointment (or a list available from your pharmacy).
- Check with your pharmacist before your next appointment to determine if you will need any renewals.
We recognize that some of our patients have unique situations and will find Dr. Szabo’s prescription renewal policy challenging. Therefore, certain medications may be renewed by phone. Unfortunately, this is a non-insured OHIP service and a $15.00 fee will apply. If this fee is not paid, then future prescribing by phone will be refused by Dr. Szabo.
